THURSTAN HOSKIN SOLICITORS is an independent law firm which has been part of the Cornish legal landscape for nearly half a century.

Our main office in Redruth was established in 1979, conveniently sited close to the town centre, the railway station and the A30. We also have offices in St Agnes and Hayle. The founder of the firm, Thurstan Hoskin, was born and raised in the county and we take pride in our Cornish roots. We act for clients based across the length and breadth of the county, ‘up country’ as well as abroad. Since Thurstan Hoskin’s retirement Barbara Archer and Stephen Morrison have continued with the firm’s ethos and aim to preserve and develop the firm's core principles which are good value, good advice, good communications, respect, and reassurance. We try to foresee, forewarn, prepare, react, and solve when unexpected issues arise. Our Hayle office opened in March 2019 and we are looking to bring the same client-focused approach to legal services that we provide in Redruth and St Agnes to clients both old and new in Hayle. We are very mindful that former clients of Furse Sanders have been left in a state of uncertainty following the closure of that firm and we will endeavour to help any of those clients either recover their original deeds or wills at no cost or provide advice on replacing those documents or creating brand new wills. We offer fixed fees for several services, and we will always look to provide clear and helpful advice.

Some services we are unable to offer cost information on due to the individual nature of each client’s requirements. If you do not see cost information on the service you require, please get in touch and we will be happy to give you more information.

Every month we match client donations to two local food banks - CPR (Camborne, Pool & Redruth) Foodbank & Hayle Foodbank. Donations can be given to our receptionists, and we have a food collection basket in our Redruth office.

There are areas of law that we do not cover, and we have established an effective sign-posting system for other Firms and individuals who can be of assistance in those areas and to outside non-legal agencies.

Our standard operating hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:15 pm. All our phone lines are answered during this time & our main Redruth office is open, however, some of our smaller branch offices have different times when they are open to visitors. Appointments can be made for any member of our staff to meet with you at any of our offices during our operating hours. Where appropriate, and by prior appointment only, meetings at our Redruth office can be out of hours or we are able to visit clients at their home/business.

Cornish translations
00:00 / 00:33

As a Cornish firm, we are committed to boosting Cornish culture and Heritage. When developing this new website we wanted to offer a Cornish language version of the site but due to the technical language needed in legal situations, this was going to prove challenging.

With the help of Cornwall Councils Cornish translations service, we have translated key sections of text on our main website pages which you can read in English or Cornish. Where you see the small Cornish flag you can click to read the text in Cornish. Press the Union Jack to change it back to English. Please note some of the Cornish translation is simplified versions of the text.
