Jointly Owned Property
The recent well-publicised case of Kernott v
Jones (which must have cost someone a huge amount of money) will no doubt
mislead many.
Do not take risks with such an important asset as your home.
If you are un-married then there is No Such Thing as a Common Law
Marriage! If you jointly own a property, or you contribute
financially to a property owned by your partner, take advice from a
solicitor and ask about preparing an appropriate deed.
This can clearly set out the arrangements that the two of you want.
If circumstances change, take legal advice immediately on whether the deed
needs to be adjusted.
Avoid having to fight your way through a series of Court hearings.
Win or lose, it is no fun.
Take proper advice in advance. |
