Free & Fixed Fee Legal Advice
Business matters
We are members of the Lawyers For Your Business
scheme which entitles a client becoming involved in
a new business, who informs us that the introduction
is through this scheme, to about half an hour
interview free of charge.
At that interview they can be given
general advice on, for example, entering into a partnership or
buying a business.
This very often leads to those
clients giving us instructions to act in the matter.
It is particularly helpful to those who have little
or no business experience.

Family matters
We offer an initial
FREE 30 minute appointment if you are not eligible
for the Legal Help Scheme (a form of Legal Aid). You can discuss your problems with us informally and in
complete confidence.
We will provide general advice on solutions, costs and time scale
without commitment, so that you can decide what action we can best take
for you.
The object is to help you decide whether the legal procedures available
can help you and also to enable you to become confident in us before
committing yourself.
Legal Aid
Legal Aid will be offered where it is appropriate to do so.
Legal Aid is not necessarily free of charge. There are several
schemes and in most cases means testing applies, for which you will need
to provide various items of financial evidence including:
This particular Legal Aid Scheme (Legal Help) is available for all
family matters
This firm has always worked with the Legal Aid
system. We were one of the first in Cornwall to obtain a Legal
Aid franchise for which we had to prove that we were
satisfying the then new Legal Aid Board Standards.
Clients receive the same quality of service whether
they are paying their costs themselves or are
assisted by the Legal Services Commission (LSC) -
formerly the Legal Aid Board with Legal Help or
Public Funding Certificates.
We have continued with the system and have a
contract for Family Law Work (e.g. Divorce,
Children) Financial Settlements and Domestic
Violence Injunction.
Contracted firms are periodically audited by the LSC
to check that they continue to adhere to the
standards required.
It is most likely to be useful in Family or matters
regarding Wills for single parents or the elderly,
provided the client is financially eligible.
N/B
Legal Aid is not necessarily wholly free.
In some
cases a contribution has to be paid by the client.
In other cases the LSC has to be reimbursed out of
assets gained or preserved for the client. Full
information will be provided on this when you obtain
Legal Aid.
